A NEW WAY OF PLAYING TAMBURELLO
Music has always accompanied man in his path, giving him the possibility to express his emotions, dreams, feelings in the highest dimension, giving full voice to his creativity.
Amongst innumerable instruments an ancient and trusty way of expression has been and still nowdays is the frame drum.
Acareful study and a deep iconographic reading testify the presence of the frame drums already since 1700 B.C.
In famous bassorilievo “the great Babylonian drum of Gudea” appertaining to the mesopotamic culture we can already see a drum of the diameter of 110 cm. beated by two players; the presence of these instruments in greek-roman age is testified by the roman mosaic in the “Villa of Guide” in Pompei. In an area that embraces all Mediterranean until the Middle East, in Italy the spread of frame drums has happened thanks to the influence of Islam in Sicily.
In the culture of Campania the frame drums are still used in the musical shapes of the tarantella and above all in the tammorriata...
